We say it all the time...
WE HAVE THE BEST JOB EVER.
Our Story
Our school opened in 2010, nestled in the Hidden Valley neighborhood of Duluth, Minnesota. Katie Rosenthal began as the Head Teacher in 2010, and Tara Jeanetta joined as the Afternoon Teacher in 2012. Our goal was to provide the close relationships and hours of a day care, along with the structure and curriculum of a preschool.
In the fall of 2017, our former director made the bittersweet decision to retire from the world of preschool. We were determined to continue the relationships we had with our Hidden Valley families and fill many years with play and learning.
After months of searching, we found our new home, in the Lakeside neighborhood, across the street from Lake Superior. We are continuing HVP’s mission of preparing students for Kindergarten through play with hands-on activities, games, music, and ever-changing topics of study. However, now we get to do all of that in our new, bigger space that is full of fresh opportunities for outdoor play and discovery.
Philosophy
Our program is built around the belief that ages 0-5 are the most significant years in a child’s development. Early Childhood Education is the key to building a great foundation for a child’s educational success.
Mission Statement

We focus on hands-on exploration and discovery, while supporting development of interpersonal relationships and emotional regulation. We do not discriminate against anyone based on race, creed, religion, sex, disability, or national origin.
